These are the best shade loving plants you can have for your roof garden
There are many awesome shade loving plants you can use to decorate indoors. Some are even hard to kill, and can also freshen up your air. Depending on the look you are going for, you can either go with leafy plants, succulents, or flowering plants.
1. Leafy Plants:
2. The Boston Fern is a great plant to have indoors. They do like a lot of water, and you can also mist the leaves a few times a week and it will grow like crazy! They do well in hanging pots as they grow in all directions. They can get pretty large, but trimming them is pretty easy.
English Ivy is a cute little vine that also does well indoors. It does like to creep around and grow, but you can either keep it cut back and small, or give it something like a rod or wall to grow up. They do not need a lot of light and are hard to kill. They like lots of water, and to be misted a few times a week as well. They are great for people who have asthma and allergies as well!
Aloe Vera is a type of succulent, and all succulents do well indoors. They survive on indirect sunlight and little water, just needing more when the soil is dry. They need to be in a pot that drains, or the standing water in the pot will cause the roots to rot. They also help clean the air, and you can even use the jelly found in the leaves as your very own 100% pure aloe vera gel!
4 . Echeveria is another popular succulent that comes in a variety of colors. They grow and sprout easily, and are also pretty hardy plants. They, like aloe vera, need some water and love indirect sunlight. They need a pot that drains, however, or they can develop root rot. One cool thing about these plants is you can plant a bunch of them in one pot and create a beautiful arrangement like below. There are many different varieties of succulents, and they come in such beautiful colors and shapes, so they can work with any decor.

The Peace Lily is a great flowering plant for indoors. It comes in a few colors, like white and red, and is a very hardy plant. It does best in the shade and with weekly watering. However, lilies can be poisonous to house pets, so I would avoid them if you have little furbabies around.
Gerbera Daisies are great indoor flowering plants. They come in many colors, and love lots of water. They also can develop root rot if their pot does not have proper drainage, but that is easy to fix with a pot with a hole in the bottom to keep standing water from forming. They thrive best in direct sunlight, so having them near a window is best.
All of these plants can be found at local nurseries, or online if you want a particular color or type. I have 6 succulents in my apartment right now: two types of Aloe Vera, three different types of Echeveria, and one that was part of a set and i am not sure what variety it is. They are all easy to care for and they’re beautiful indoor plants.
