Bael is an indigenous fruit tree of India. Bael grows in wild and semi-wild in the North India states of Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. There is no systematic or regular plantation of bael except in Uttar Pradesh.

Planting and care

Bael plants should be planted at a distance of 8m x 8m (Budded plants) or 10m x 10m (seedlings).

Bilva Tree Benefits

Culinary use: Bael fruits may be cut in half, or the soft types are broken open, and the pulp, dressed with palm sugar, eaten for breakfast, as is a common practice in Indonesia.
The pulp is often processed as nectar or “squash” (diluted nectar). A popular drink (called “sherbet” in India) is made by beating the seeded pulp together with milk and sugar. A beverage is also made by combining bael fruit pulp with that of tamarind. These drinks are consumed perhaps less as food or refreshment than for their medicinal effects.




Medicinal use: Bael benefits in healing digestive disorders, ulcers, headache, hypertension, diabetes, and numerous other ailments. The ripe fruit works as a laxative but is not digested easily. Unripe Bael fruit, on the other hand, promotes digestion and cures diarrhea. Apart from the fruit, the root, bark, leaves, as well as flowers of bel tree, have medicinal value.

2. जान लें कि हृदय (heart) रोगियों के लिए भी बेलपत्र का प्रयोग बेहद असरदार है। बेलपत्र का काढ़ा रोजाना बनाकर पीने से आपका हृदय हमेशा मजबूत रहेगा और हार्ट अटैक का खतरा भी कम होगा। वहीं, श्वास रोगियों के लिए भी यह बेलपत्र किसी अमृत से कम नहीं है। इन पत्तियों का रस पीने से श्वास रोग में काफी लाभ होता है।

3. शरीर में जब कभी गर्मी बहुत बढ़ जाए या मुंह में गर्मी के कारण छाले हो जाएं, तो बेल की पत्तियों को मुंह में रखकर चबाते रहे। इससे लाभ जरूर मिलेगा और छाले समाप्त हो जाएंगे।




4. इन दिनों बवासीर नामक बीमारी बहुत ही आम हो गई है। सबसे ज्यादा तकलीफ देह होती है खूनी बवासीर। बेल की जड़ का गूदा पीसकर बराबर मात्रा में मिश्री मिलाकर उसका चूर्ण बनाकर, इस चूर्ण को रोज़ सुबह-शाम ठंडे पानी के साथ खा लें। अगर बवासीर का दर्द बहुत अधिक है तो दिन में तीन से चार बार लें। इससे आपकी बवासीर की समस्या तुरंत ठीक हो जाएगी।

5. वहीं अगर किसी कारण से बेल की जड़ उपलब्ध न हो सके तो बेस्ट ऑप्शन होगा कि आप कच्चे बेलफल का गूदा, सौंफ और सौंठ मिलाकर उसका काढ़ा बना कर सेवन कर लें। यह बेहद लाभदायक है।
